Join us to dive one of the most popular routes in one of the world’s top dive destinations.   Gain experience as a diver.    Get some great dives.    Oh, and did we mention what a great deal this trip is?

Overview

This trip is a liveaboard trip – we will be boarding the boat on the evening of June 6 and disembarking on the morning of June 13th – during this time, we will dive the world-famous islands of Brothers, Daedalus and Elphinstone, famous for big shark action and also a couple of very well-known shipwrecks, the Aida and the Numidia.

The trip departs from Port Ghalib and returns to Hurghada and includes 18+ dives.

June 6:   Arrive in Port Ghalib and board the boat

June 7:   3 dives a day

June 8:   3 dives a day

June 9:   3 dives a day

June 10:   3 dives a day

June 11:   3 dives a day

June 12:  2 dives and return to Hurghada by the evening

June 13:  disembark in the morning

The itinerary typically includes 1 day in Brothers, 2 days at Daedalus and 1 day at Elphinstone, although it will vary depending on conditions.    There is also a plan to accommodate a night dive during the trip.

We are going early in summer, when the water temperatures will be slightly on the cooler side – 24-25C – in the hope of bringing the hammerheads shallower.    So a wetsuit is recommended – 3mm or even 5mm, depending on your cold tolerance.

For the most part, the diving isn’t particularly challenging – however, we will be diving alongside DEEP walls (900m or more deep), and often going a little further from the islands to the blue for sightings.

The recommended minimum requirements for the dives is Advanced/Deep and 30 dives.       But more importantly, divers need to have good buoyancy control, especially with ascents and descents, and also be prepared to handle some unexpected currents, as can often occur around deep water atolls.

Egypt guides are known for giving divers a lot of leeway in terms of managing their own dives.   A Bangalore Scuba dive professional will be on hand to provide additional support if need be, but the expectation is still that divers should have their basic dive fundamentals sorted.    Please contact us to discuss this further, if need be.

Lastly, all diving is done off 2 RIB tenders.

Our boat, the Blue Horizon, is a comfortable, mid-end boat.      The cabins aren’t super large and luxurious as on the high-end boats of Indonesia, for example – but they aren’t super cramped either.       Comfortable for 2 people to stash their gear and sleep in.

There are ample common areas for lounging around – an outdoors deck, an indoors common space and a large dining area.

All meals are included from the evening of June 6 to the morning of June 13th – 3 buffet meals a day as well as snacks.    Meals are mostly European – meats, pastas, rice, and some vegetarian options also included.

The boat also offers unlimited tea, coffee, water and soft drinks.        Alcoholic beverages are extra, however.

A visa is needed for Egypt and needs to be applied for in advance – you can use your travel agent for it, or we can recommend someone who can help with this.    This will be discussed on the Whatsapp group where we plan logistics.

Speaking of travel logistics – divers will need to fly to Cairo and then take a flight to Hurghada, from where a cab will be required to get to Port Ghalib.        Divers can also choose to take a cab directly to Port Ghalib, although it is a longish drive of 9 hours or so.   The key point is to arrive in Port Ghalib by 6pm or so, on the evening on June 6th.

There is also the option to add a few days of diving earlier (to see dugongs and possibly snorkel with dolphins)., or adding a couple of days of sightseeing in Cairo.

We can help with all of this.

Also, do note liveaboards have a very strict cancellation policy – so payments are non-refundable.    We recommend that you take travel insurance if need be.
