What’s that? Another bucket-list diving destination for 2026? Yes! We like staying abreast of ‘current’ affairs, and Komodo delivers everything you would want underwater. Gigantic mantas, sharks, turtles, critters hiding in the nooks, and vast swathes of healthy corals all around.
The currents here are a little strong, and that’s the reason this place is so alive. They bring nutrients, which bring plankton, which bring mantas, which bring… well, divers like you and us (for a whopping sixth time) who can’t stay away, right?
Your Bangalore Scuba dive pro will be there throughout, helping you time the currents, spot the mantas, and navigate Komodo’s sites so you can focus on the incredible action underwater.
Komodo National Park, located between the islands of Sumbawa and Flores, sits at the juncture of two continental plates and constitutes the “shatter belt” within the Wallace Biogeographical Region, between the Australian and Sunda ecosystems.

The most enigmatic inhabitant of the region, of course, is the Komodo Lizard, which is endemic only to this region. But the waters off the islands are no less intriguing, with their signature “coral triangle” biodiversity.
April 1: Arrive at Labuan Bajo (LBJ) Airport, transfers and check in at hotel
April 2 – 5: 4 days/ 12 dives in North and Central Komodo National Park
April 6: 2 dives in Central Komodo National Park, followed by an optional excursion to Rinca island to see the Komodo dragons
April 7: Briefly consider quitting job and staying here longer, then checkout, transfer to LBJ airport and fly back home
As always, diving itinerary is tentative and subject to change based on weather and other external factors.
Our diving plan aims to cover some of the world-famous sites of the area, such as Castle Rock, Batu Bolong, Mawan, Taka Makassar, Tatwa Kecil, Police Corner, Crystal Rock and of course, Cauldron. “Amazing” doesn’t begin to describe these dives!

Komodo (rightly) has the reputation for having some very strong currents. In general, we feel that this reputation is a little exaggerated: The currents can certainly be very strong, but dive centers plan the diving to avoid the worst of the conditions, and typically, conditions are manageable.
That said, divers should be comfortable in currents, able to descend and ascend without supervision, and have good buoyancy control and general awareness.
Our accommodation is at a boutique hotel conveniently located just a few minutes walk from central Labuan Bajo, and all the popular local eateries. The harbor, from which the boat departs, is just 5 minutes away.
All rooms have double/twin beds with aircon, safety box, en suite bathrooms, patio/balcony. Breakfast is included in the price, lunch is on the boat and we have left dinner open to allow us to explore some of the local eateries (and the best ice-cream in Indonesia!). The hotel also has an in-house restaurant, for lazy days.

Visa: Indonesia offers visa on arrival. Visitors can also apply for an eVOA prior to arrival, which can save them some time standing in line at immigration on arrival.
Please plan to arrive on the afternoon/early evening of April 1, 2026. And on the return, please pick a flight in the afternoon of April 7, so as to ensure adequate surface interval before you fly.
Transfers: We have arranged for the group to be transferred between the airport and the hotel by car on both arrival and departure days.
Insurance: Dive insurance is mandatory, and we provide options for both short term and annual insurance from Diveassure and DAN. Additionally, travel insurance is strongly recommended.

To keep things fair to all the divers, we reserve the right to ask divers who do not meet the skills requirement outlined in the group to either sit out a dive, or take additional training or go to a different dive site. To be clear, a Bangalore Scuba pro is on the trip and will help divers who need assistance and provide buoyancy trips/additional supervision, of course. But we also don’t want one diver to monopolize the attention of a guide or limit the choice of dive sites that we can go dive. So this is mostly in extreme cases, but we want to have this out there in the interest of full disclosure
